As many of our affordable housing communities are funded by varying sources, the qualifying criteria for each community varies slightly. In order to collect your information in the most efficient way possible, we have separate applications for each SHV Community.
Across ALL SHV communities, we are an equal housing opportunity housing provider and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital or familial status, disability, military/veteran status, or sexual orientation.
Applicants to all communities are subject to a background check done through a third party screening service. All applicants, including those intending to live in the same house or apartment, must complete and sign a rental application for this reason.
A non-refundable application fee is required for each separate application and must be received prior to processing. Household members aged 16 & 17 will also be screened. If the unit you are applying for is a HUD Unit, there is no application fee.
As it is part of our mission to serve citizens who may have a history of financial hardship, we understand that some applicants may have poor credit histories. Exceptions may be made in the case of medical related collections. However, housing or housing related collections or recent bad credit (in the last 12 months) does concern us. We are willing to accept protective payees, income, and credit worthy co-signers or absolute guarantors.
Reasonable payment plans established to rectify your debts may be accepted as a remedy.
