The El Estero Apartments were purchased in September, 2002 and over the course of two years were completely remodeled. All existing residents were relocated during the phased renovation and then, if qualified, moved back into their existing or a similar new unit. This is the largest housing development undertaken by SHV prior to 2013 and includes 123 – studio, 1 and 2 bedroom units. Two units are set aside for site management. The site includes a swimming pool and a laundry facility and has been designated as a Crime Free Multi Family Housing project. Total project costs were approximately $8 million, blended from a wide variety of funding resources, ranging from Low Income Housing Tax Credits, to public and private loans, to an Avista grant to provide electronic access, voice activated heat and lights for two of our disabled units.
